About Shirahama / 白浜について
Japan's Beloved Coastal Retreat
Shirahama Town is a coastal resort on the Kii Peninsula of Wakayama Prefecture. Its name literally means "white beach," after the 620-metre stretch of white quartz sand — Shirarahama — that has drawn travellers for over a thousand years.
The town is home to some of Japan's oldest hot springs. Saki-no-yu, a natural rock bath beside the Pacific, has been in use for more than 1,300 years. Alongside the dramatic Sandanbeki sea cliffs, the sunset arch of Engetsu Island, and the forests of the Kii Peninsula, Shirahama is also the gateway to the Kumano Kodo, a UNESCO World Heritage pilgrimage network.
Welcoming roughly 3 million visitors a year, it is one of western Japan's most loved destinations. Our shop exists to give every visitor — and every online customer — a piece of this place to take home.

Why Shirahama / 白浜の魅力
Why Shirahama
Three things that define this town's character — and the starting point for everything we design.
01 — The Beach
Shirarahama
白良浜 (Shirara Beach)
The white quartz sand of Shirarahama is unlike anything else on Japan's Pacific coast. Stretching 620 metres along a gentle, warm bay, the beach is as good for summer swimming as it is for year-round walks.
02 — The Onsen
Ancient Hot Springs
温泉 (Onsen)
Shirahama's onsen are among the oldest in Japan, recorded alongside Arima and Dogo in eighth-century court chronicles. At Saki-no-yu, you bathe in rock pools carved from the shoreline with the Pacific breaking a few metres away.
03 — The Landscape
Sea & Mountain
自然景観
Sandanbeki drops sixty metres of sheer cliff into rough ocean. Engetsu Island frames the sunset through a natural stone arch. Ancient forests, rivers, and pilgrimage trails extend from the town's back door into the Kii Peninsula.
